How to Install Android OS to HP TouchPad Android Hack

So there are a lot of people who recently took the plunge and decided to buy a new 16GB HP TouchPad 9.7″ WiFi Tablet and 32GB model. Why? Because there was a HUGE price drop that lets you get these normally expensive TouchPads for around $100! HP is no longer going to be supporting them (for the most part) and so the price drop occurred. The stats on these bad boys:

1GB DDR2
16 or 32GB Internal Storage
9.7″ IPS LCD (1024×768) w/ 1.3MP Camera
WiFi N + Bluetooth

As you can see, hardware-wise they’re pretty nice for what they are. Now that everyone has one, people are wondering how they can put the Google Android operating system on it to replace WebOS, which people generally like less. No guide is yet available for this, but many places are actually offering a bounty or reward for those who figure out how to do it. There are still some hacks and mods available right now though. For example, you can increase the speed of your tablet to make it faster if you have any lag by Overclocking and Speeding Up the HP TouchPad. Alternatively, there is a jailbreaking (like for iPods) program out there called Preware that lets you install homebrew apps and so forth. Seeing as how HP won’t be providing support for these, it seems like it may be a legitimate choice. It’s similar to a piece of software called Cydia. Check out Install Preware on HP Touchpad

Escape the Store

Foose has been working away on Escape the Store — the sequel to Escape the Bathroom. So far it’s coming along nicely. This game is much larger than its predecessor since you have an entire store to look throughout. It’ll be more challenging too. More information to come!

Future Flash Videos

I wrote two short scripts for two different flash videos I plan on making. One is Twilight based and the other is Resident Evil based. They’ll be comical in nature and not sure how the animation will look. I’m not a very good artist so…we’ll see! I’ll practice using pen and paper, then try with my tablet. Also, there will now be a daily digest post by Bot from now on. It’s to keep things more interesting here.

Escape the Bathroom 3D Released!

I forgot to mention this the other day, but Escape the Bathroom 3D (we added 3D to the title) has now been released! It isn’t doing too well rating-wise on Newgrounds so far, but we enjoyed making it so that’s okay. If anyone can leave any feedback here, on Newgrounds, or on Geek Montage, then that would be kewl. Escape the Bathroom Update

The Escape the Bathroom game that I’m creating with Foose is near completion. That is to say of course, the Visual Basic version (exe-version). Soon after, I will recreate the game in Flash as mentioned before. I did the bulk of the coding for the game last night and there really isn’t too much left to implement. We had some minor issues with the item bar, which we dubbed as being “solved” earlier today…But I think I’m still not happy with it so we’re going to probably take another shot at it. One thing that I would like to note is that this particular “Escape” game is pretty easy. Assuming we make more, the next ones will be much harder. Cheers.

Roast of Larry the Cable Guy & Game Update

Finally, I watched the Roast of Larry the Cable Guy. Pretty funny. I rank it as good as the Flavor Flav one. On a dev-related note, Foose has given me the renders for Escape the Bathroom so the game should be complete relatively soon after some programming and so forth.

Escape the Bathroom

So I’ve been working with Foose, a fellow member at the awesome website that was dubbed GeekMontage.com, on a game called Escape the Bathroom. This game, as the title entails, requires the person playing to escape the bathroom they’re trapped in. The first version is going to be in Visual Basic. Do NOT worry, as this is purely temporary just so that the game can be created as fast as possible for conceptual reasons (VB6 is my language of choice and I’m very fast with it). It will then be ported over to Flash, which is something I don’t often use so that should be fun!
